August 6 Incorporating Social Media with Your Website

Posted on: July 10, 2019 /
Categories: Monthly Meetings, Tech4Good SWFL

Join us Tuesday, August 6, as Tech4Good SWFL guest speaker, Anne Katzeff, leads a discussion on Incorporating Social Media with Your Website, at Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 6340 Napa Woods Way, Naples, FL.

Integrating social media into your website is an important way to widen your reach, deepen engagement with your audience, and build brand recognition. It’s a form of digital marketing that can be fun and fulfilling. When used with intelligent strategies, social media contributes to increased support, sales and donations.

The evening will begin with Anne sharing her thoughts about the value and promise of story, and the importance of authenticity. Goals need to be identified at the beginning of any project. Underpinning those goals is the need to find our “voice” and stay true to who we are in the digital barrage of distractions.

Anne’s presentation will then focus on the actual tools you can use to achieve your goals with integrity and genuineness. Some of the questions we’ll tackle:

  • What are the usual suspects (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc)?
    • What other devices and applications are available?
    • How do you use them?
    • How do you put them on your website?
    • Do you install anything on your computer?

Please join us! Bring your good humor and your story!

RSVP

Anne Katzeff specializes in designing and developing custom websites for artists, small businesses, and nonprofits.

Anne has been running her own business, ASK Design, for more than 20 years, turning her focus to web design about 10 years ago. She creates custom designs that fit each client’s needs, emphasize what they do best, and separate them from the crowd. She builds all kinds of sites: e-commerce shops and artist portfolios, individuals and businesses, Bootstrap and WordPress, Squarespace and Photoshelter.

Anne is also an artist and a teacher.

“It’s a lot of fun following your passions. Balancing the creative with the technical has kept both sides of my brain and soul happy.”

July 2 – Accessibility in Web and Social Media #a11y

Birgit Pauli-Haack, a leading expert on Accessibility, will instruct and lead the discussion.

Web accessibility refers to the inclusive practice of making websites usable by people of all abilities and disabilities. When sites are correctly designed, developed, and edited, all users can have equal access to information and functionality.

With reports of one in five people in the US claiming some sort of disability, 20% of the population is just too large of a group to ignore. According to an article in Leading Age, organization websites that are inaccessible to consumers with visual, auditory, or other disabilities may violate the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

“The Warm Up” ~ All first-time attendees will be greeted at 5:30 pm and will be introduced to our other members to help get the lay of the land, so to speak: What are Tech4Good, the agenda, and some of the routines we established throughout the meeting.

Apr 3- Hands-on Social Media Advice & Help at Social Media Surgery

Posted on: March 28, 2018 /
Categories: Monthly Meetings, Tech4Good SWFL, Tips & Tricks

Back again at Tech4Good SWFL!

Join us for Social Media Surgery: Tips & Tricks. Tuesday April 3, 2018 at Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Greater Naples, 6340 Napa Woods Way, Naples, FL 34116.

Do you need a hand in learning social media basics, like posting photos on Facebook or writing a tweet?

Maybe you have questions about how to track the clicks on your links, or use Facebook Insights.

Maybe you would like to chat with someone about your social media strategy.

Maybe you’re a social media pro yourself, and want to share your experience with others.

Or, maybe you just need an annual check-up!

This month we’re acting out: a social media surgery.

Register now, then follow this link to complete the survey. Two minutes of your time will help us focus the evening topics.

Social media surgery is an informal, informative, and fun event started in the UK, where anyone in the community with questions about how to use social media (“patients”) come and sit down with an expert (“surgeons”, aka “doctors” as we would say) and get one-on-one, friendly, personal advice.

Think of this as an unconference: What happens at the event depends on who comes and what they want to learn. So bring your questions! Because of the nature of the event, you never know what you might learn or discover from other participants!

On hand to help answer your questions will be experts from our community who have the knowledge and experience necessary to inform and instruct you in using platforms and tools such as Facebook, Twitter, Tweetdeck, Hootsuite, Bit.ly, Pinterest, Google+ and Tumblr and many more.

Our Social Media Experts so far:

Birgit Pauli-Haack

Colleen Brady
